Outside of the circle and often unknown to many Mentell members, an army of volunteers (men and women) who have been directly or indirectly impacted by men's mental health champion the charity in the heart of the community by raising Mentell awareness to those who need it the most. -3.jpg?width=604&height=604&name=Campaign%20(1)-3.jpg)
Over 4000 men have signed up to Mentell since 2017, and 45% of our members have arrived through our Turn Your Borough Blue campaign which targets bars, pubs, barbers, coffee shops etc. - spaces and places where men have meaningful conversations.
Unfortunately, suicide is still the biggest killer for men under 45 years old, and 72% of men who die by suicide are not known to statutory services (GPs, Hospitals etc.) during the same year that man takes his life. However, they will have a pint or get a haircut, which is why having a presence in the community is vital. It takes 30 seconds to signup to Mentell, and a simple beer mat in the right place at the right time can make all the difference.
As a shadow facilitator, you are uniquely positioned to support Mentell's community work in a way that many others can not. For a start, you can share with members of the public your direct experience of how the circle has helped you; Real recognises real, and to build the trust in the community that the circle works, people need to hear it from the horse's mouth. By joining the community team at local workshops, talks and events, you can shine the light on the impact the circle has had on you and those around you ( without disclosing any member's identifiable details)
