Self-awareness

As you begin your journey to become a Mentell facilitator, a fundamental skill you will
continually hone and reflect upon self-awareness.

Self-awareness is the ability to turn your attention inward and observe what is arising within you as a result of what you are experiencing. Given that you have no direct responsibility for managing the circle, you have a unique opportunity to focus some time on noticing what thoughts and emotions are surfacing as a result of what is being shared during the circle.

The circle experience can often bring what is unresolved within us to the surface. This is not something to be frightened of, but rather just something to be aware of - mindful of the types of shares that impact you.

Self-awareness is a continuous and never-ending journey, a cornerstone of your learning along the Mentell facilitator pathway. The further we deepen into this process, the more we become skilled at holding space for ourselves and others, discovering our triggers and learning to respond rather than react.

Next Step: Note when you next get triggered in circle and discuss with your mentor how you became aware of it and what you will do differently next time.
