Authenticity

Regardless of your role within the circle, here at Mentell we have a member-first policy. This
means, above all, your own Mentell health takes priority - attending circle and
being open and honest about your feelings. One of the common, unifying threads that
weave the facilitation team together is lived experience. Most, if not all of our facilitators have faced their own mental health challenges and now feel they are in a place to give back.

Our facilitators have witnessed and felt the transformative power when men are
willing to lay themselves bare. With this in mind and as you embark on your Mentell
facilitator journey, it is important that you take your metaphorical
‘mask’ off in circle.  Your greatest superpower as a facilitator is sharing your story, which means staying true to your feelings and consistently modelling vulnerability back to the circle. Holding back limits your experience and subconsciously withholds energy from the space  - sharing what is alive and true for you (warts and all) permits other members to do the same.

This is how the circle works you need to give to get, and your role as a shadow is to show yourself; how else will the circle trust you to hold space for others if you can't hold space for yourself?

The gift of vulnerability you give to yourself will likely inspire the other members within the circle to do the same.
